Listening attentively to the other does not necessarily mean that we agree. What matters is that a point of view is meaningful to the speaker and respected by the listener. A viewpoint is never “the truth” if not a unique and legitimate perspective. One of the great faults that we observe in organizations today is often this need to always want to be right! Competitive spirit is necessary but has limits. It is often limited. It nourishes the self-esteem of the one who is right but does not contribute to a positive collaboration. Let’s not get stuck on who is right and together decide how to work together. Change is about promoting a culture of learning and humility.
