Skholè is a very rich term which in ancient Greek designates the general meaning of a stop, a pause or a temporal suspension. It also contributes to the dignity of properly human existence as opposed to servile and superficial occupations.
This temporality is characterized by its detachment from the rhythm of society: “Skolaic” or “school” time is “calm”, “quiet” or even “slow” because it is the time to control time, a time in which the action can take place at leisure, take its time, give itself time instead of being carried away by it.
We suspend our judgment to give space to the other and help him (her) regain his (her) freedom. We slow down the rhythm of our thoughts and we give importance to what emerges from our sub conscious.
